Northern Road Watch monitors highway incidents across Northern Ontario in near real-time, sourced directly from Ontario 511 and updated every few minutes. Each accident is automatically tagged with weather conditions, road state, camera snapshots, wildlife habitat proximity, LTE coverage, and lighting conditions at the time of detection. Construction and routine maintenance are excluded from statistics.
⚠️ Limitations: Incident durations reflect how long an event appears in the 511 feed, which may not match actual road closure times. Camera snapshots show the nearest available camera — it may be several kilometres away. LTE data reflects mapped coverage and varies by carrier, terrain, and conditions. Durations marked like this indicate a monitoring gap and are excluded from averages. This tool is for informational purposes only.
